    Getting cleaning solvents in country

Units can't justify the additional cleaning supplies to maintain the rifles let alone equipment. I am not in need of a donation as I will come out of my own pocket like most snipers do, but I am looking for a way to get cleaning solvents (Hoppes, Sweet's) into country. I tried to order them online but its a no-go. I don't want my wife or family to risk a customs issue if they mailed them. Any clues? Thanks! Cliff II

Say Cliff, do you have access to LSA oil, any kind of white vinegar and Hydrogen peroxide?
Simply mix the vinegar and peroxide 50/50 and add a small amount of LSA oil to make an excellent field expedient bore cleaner/lubricant. Make small batches, say no more than you will use in a day or so, (I use 35mm film canisters), and the stuff will remove carbon, copper, lead, and most grit overnight.
I have used this mix for over 35 years, it hasn't hurt the bores, and I still get competitive scores; just be sure to leave it long enough to work, and then dry thoroughly. Lube as usual.

Operator505 -Unfortunately not. I am out "camping" right now. So getting the solvents isn't a matter of money, but customs forms and regulations. That is something I will keep in mind for my weapons at home though thanks.
